APC House Of Assembly Candidate killed

Okon Uwah   a  staunch member  of the opposition All progressive Congress  APC and candidate for Ukanafun state Constituency in the fourth coming election,  was said to be on a house to house campaign tour  of the area where he was  attacked.

His campaign train was said to have been ambushed by thugs who descended on him with several dangerous weapon, beat him to a state of coma and left him on the spot to die.

But after the attack he was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital by members of his campaign team where he gave up the ghost.

The late former Deputy Speaker’s car was also not spared as it was damaged beyond repairs by the hoodlums who swooped on him during the house-to-house campaign.

Described as a philanthropist amiable and good natured, the former Deputy Speaker was reported to have died in the hospital as result of injuries he sustained during the attack.

Resident of the area who received news of the death of the late Deputy Speaker with shock and disbelieve condemned the attack and called for full investigation.

Our correspondent however learnt that top level policemen and a team of investigators have been dispatched to the area to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

Meanwhile the remain of late Okon  Uwah which was later brought to Uyo  that same night  has been deposited in  the mortuary.

Political violence has become an everyday issue even as the general elections draw nearer.

Just few days ago the convoy of Aisha Buhari, the wife of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, was attacked in Ilorin, Kwara state.

Ramsey Nouah: We built Nollywood out of nothing - and now we're shooting for the stars... via @iam_bobokanbai

It's probably the most important advice Nigerian movie superstar Ramsey Nouah ever received: "My friend said," Nouah recalls,"'you look like a great actor, why don't you act?'"

That was some 25 years ago, when Nouah was looking for funds to cover his school examination fees. Nouah took his friend's suggestion and started auditioning for TV shows. He quickly landed a role in a successful soap opera, and soon after he made his debut in Nollywood, Nigeria's mighty movie making machine.

Today, Nouah is one of the industry's most popular names, having starred in dozens of films and won several accolades. His latest movie -- "Thy Will Be Done," by director Obi Emelonye -- became last month the first Nollywood film to premiere at London's BFI IMAX, Britain's biggest cinema screen.

CNN's African Voices caught up with Nouah to talk about Nigeria's film industry and present him with the questions you sent via the #AskRamsey and #CNNAfrica hashtags.

CNN: How have you seen Nollywood change and grow over the years?

Ramsey Nouah: There have been several phases in Nollywood, like in everything in life. We started off Nollywood almost like making bread out of stone; there was nothing, no investment, no structure, nothing on the ground to actually help the industry but we've brought it this far and we are very happy...
