90 African migrants rescued and more than 40 feared dead after a rickety boat sank off Libya's coast.. via @iam_bobokanbai


According to UN and aid agencies, more than 120 migrants, believed to have been from Sub-Saharan Africa, including Senegal, Mali and Benin were on the boat when it started taking in water on Wednesday. Over 40 people - including women and children drowned and nearly 90 were rescued.

The survivors were picked up hours later by a passing merchant ship and brought to Sicily on an German military vessel operating in the area.

Biko o, we are dealing with Boko Haram, we don't need more crisis in Nigeria, please. There is currently tension in the Niger Delta following the news of the planned meeting of the leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND). The meeting is being convened by MEND leader, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, and is slated to hold at the Izon House in the capital of Bayelsa State, Yenagoa on Saturday, July 25. A letter made available to newsmen, reads:
“My dearly beloved Commanders and Leaders of various wings of the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), I greet you all. It is my pleasure to humbly invite you to a very crucial and urgent meeting as follows: Venue: Izon House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Date (of the meeting is) Saturday, July 25th. Time (is) 2 pm Prompt.”

Boko Haram still in control of Sambisa, 5 LGs - Yobe and Borno governors say.. via @iam_bobokanbai


Governors Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State and Ibrahim Shettima of Borno say Boko Haram militants are still in control of Sambisa forest, as well as five local government areas in both states. The governors said this during the National Economic Council meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday July 23rd. The governors called for increased military actions in their states.

Two masked men yesterday July 23rd stormed the Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt home of Bob Ihekona, the MD of Zales & Marvel, an Oil servicing company, and killed him. They also took away his two phones. The motive for the assassination is not yet known.

Alleged fraud: Toyin Saraki says she will cooperate with EFCC.. via @iam_bobokanbai


Wife of the Senate president, Toyin Saraki says she will give her maximum cooperation to EFCC officials when she appears before the anti-graft agency on July 28th. Mrs Saraki has been invited by the EFCC to answer some questions regarding some funds found in some companies which she has interests in. A statement by her private secretary, Akeem Olagoke reads;
“Her Excellency, Mrs Toyin Saraki, Founder of Wellbeing Foundation Africa and wife of the Senate President has been informed by her office that a letter of invitation was delivered to her office, by and from the EFCC. She has directed an immediate and formal response, to the EFCC, that she will be delighted to assist them with any lawful inquiries they may have, as a law abiding, transparent and accountable private citizen.”.
