A female University of Lagos student (Oluchi Anekwe) a 300 level first class student at the department of Accounting was electrocuted yesterday Sept. 8th after a high tension cable fell on her in front of the Newhall building in the campus. According to reports, the young lady was immediately rushed to the Lagos state Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival..
The student was said to have been walking along the “New Hall” bus stop when an high voltage electric cable fell off the pole striking her which result to an immediate death.
Though she was taken for treatment at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), but she die up before the ambulance taking her could reach the hospital.
As at the time of filing this report the scene was reported to have been of great tragedy which remains dangerous . Students had been seen walking beneath the pole and not aware of how dangerous it could be even if the cable is still lying on the ground with rain drizzling over it as students walk closely along the path of the tragedy.
