See the question a Nigerian mum asked on facebook

Stumbled on this on Facebook on a group for mothers. After getting advice from her fellow mums, the woman further explained when people asked if the lady was her husband's current girlfriend or an ex. "She's an ex-girlfriend because he said they are no more together. But we stay in the same compound. I took her as my sister, not knowing she was dating my husband" she wrote

Rio 2016 Olympics: Okagbare Not Banned — AFN

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has described as outright falsehood media reports that fleet footed Africa queen of the track and field, Blessing Okagbare, has been banned by the National Sports Commission and AFN from participating in the Rio 2016 Olympics Games.
In a statement signed by Olukayode Thomas, a member of the board of AFN and head of Communication and Media, the AFN described the report as false.
“Why would a reporter report that Okagbare has been banned from the Rio Olympics and will not attribute such an important story to a staff of NSC or AFN? The story is not true.’’
Mr. Thomas said that Okagbare has not done anything that warrants the federation to ban her.
“Even if Okagbare has done something and we intend to punish her, the secretary General will first write her a letter inviting her to face disciplinary committee where she will defend herself against the allegation. After a fair hearing, the disciplinary committee will make a recommendation to the board, and the board will now decide’’.
Mr. Thomas said as of Wednesday, AFN had not queried or summoned Okagbare to appear before a disciplinary committee.
He also argued that the NSC headed by Alhassan Yakmut will not ban Okagbare without a fair hearing if she committed any offense.
“Okagbare has not done anything to warrant NSC to ban her, but even if she did, the Director General is former athlete and an astute administrator, he will follow due process,’’ said Mr. Thomas.

Angelina Jolie reveals heartbreaking tale of young girls raped & sold for $40

The Hollywood star and UN special envoy who is a long-standing campaigner gave a heartbreaking account of young girls she has met in conflict zones who have been repeatedly raped and sold off for as little as $40 each. The actress appeared alongside former Foreign Secretary William Hague before the House of Lords Committee to speak about their campaign against sexual violence in conflict.
"For over 10 years I had been visiting the field and meeting with families and survivors of sexual violence who felt for so long that their voices simply didn’t matter – they weren’t heard and they carried a great shame. I remember distinctly meeting this little girl, who was very young – probably about 7 or 8 – and she was rocking backwards and forwards and staring at the wall and tears streaming down her face because she had been brutally raped multiple times." She said.
According to The Independent, Jolie described how she had felt "absolutely helpless" after meeting one young girl who refused to speak to anyone after being "brutally raped multiple times". She said what was even worse than the physical violence was the feeling of worthlessness they felt when men bartered over their monetary value when selling them off as sex slaves.
"More recently I met a 13-year-old girl in Iraq who had been kept in a room with many other girls. They were taken out in twos, brought to this very dirty room with this dirty couch and raped repeatedly. They told me what was even worse than this physical violence was they had to stand in rooms and watch their friends be sold. To hear men arguing over what they were worth. Were they worth $40, $50? What was the price, their value? And how humiliating that was."
Updating the committee on progress since then, Angelina said:
"The most important thing is to understand what it's not: it's not sexual, it's a violent, brutal, terrorizing weapon, and it is used unfortunately everywhere. The most aggressive terrorist group in the world today knows what we know; knows that it is a very effective weapon and [is] using it as a center point of their terror and their way of destroying communities and families and attacking, destroying and dehumanizing." She added: "I know what would happen to my family if I were raped or my daughters were raped. All of you sitting in this room. What would that do to their lives, to your family structure? You would want to know it was wrong and that the world thought it was wrong and the person who did this to you didn't just walk away."

Many Feared Dead As Hotel Colapses In Delta

No fewer than seven people sustained injuries after a popular hotel, the Mekaval hotel situated in Effurun-Warri in Delta state collapsed at about 2am today September 9th. The injured were mostly indigenes of neighboring state who had come to the state in search of a miracle at the Christ Mercy Land Church, headed by one Pastor Jeremiah Fufeyin, popularly referred to as ‘Ijaw TB Joshua’. Delta state deputy Governor Kingsley Otuaro, who visited the scene of the incident attributed the cause of the collapse to structural defect. "The state government has ordered that the hotel be closed immediately to avert further loss of lives. We are going to send engineers straight away. It is very possible that there have been some structural defect ab initio during construction works because that place seems to be a waterlogged area and maybe the proper engineering works were not done.” he said One of the victims of the incident, Adeza who is an ADC to one of the northern state First Lady, said she was in the state to seek for spiritual help for her many family troubles “I am a Muslim, but I came here to see the man of God. Only recently I lost my elder brother who was in the Army and so many things had been happening in my family. So I came here for prayers.”she told The Nation
