NUC To Shutdown Unilag because of Bedbug Wahala.. via @iam_bobokanbai

The Nigerian University Commission in an emergency meeting held in the early hours of Monday decided to suspend the University of Lagos.
The decision to suspend the university was based on health reasons, chief among which is the Bedbug epidemic. This decision was reached after series of reports and complaints emanating from the school.
The university authority in its defense stated that a number of fumigation exercises have been carried out to put an end to what has now come to be known among the students as the ‘Bedbug Plague’. A top official of the prestigious institution who pleaded anonymity told our correspondence that, “the fumigation exercise is usually carried out during the holidays when students have vacated the residence”.
In contrary, the students who were seen protesting today as early as 7am with tattered looking beds claim that rather than exterminate the vile crawling creatures, the fumigation process (which was not properly done) seem to have empowered the bugs, as they are now seen breeding and crawling in large numbers.
“We sometimes wonder who owns the room, we or the bedbugs?” A protesting student in boxers and Arsenal jersey said.

”Welcome to UniBUG!” Another one shouted.

It is no longer news that students in various halls of residence embark on personal room fumigation from time to time, in a bid to get rid of the vile pests.

Even our correspondent who visited a number of rooms in some halls of residence in the school had to conduct most of the interview on her on her feet for fear of getting infected by the bugs.
No where seems to be safe as the bugs are found in rooms, common rooms, and even classes.
It has been observed that the bedbugs are even more dreaded than the strictest lecturers. This is as a result of the social stigma that befalls anyone on whose body or clothes bedbug is caught in public.

NNPC:trial Of Treasury Looters To Begin Soon - Buhari.. via @iam_bobokanbai

New York–President Muhammadu Buhari in New York, United States of America on Sunday stated that the prosecution of those suspected to have looted the treasury of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, will begin soon.

The president also restated his determination to fully sanitise the oil industry and make it totally free of corruption and shady deals.
President Buhari spoke at a meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations.

He recalled that he had to reorganise the Corporation by appointing a new management, saying it was one first necessary step to take.
President Buhari also expressed gratitude to the Chinese President for the country’s assistance to Nigeria in curbing crude oil theft even as he applauded China’s interception of shiploads of crude oil stolen from Nigeria.

“We know your stand on corruption, and we are grateful. Your continued cooperation in curbing oil theft from Nigeria will be appreciated,” Buhari said.
President Buhari also hinted the Nigerian military had been re-trained and re-equipped under his administration, stressing that this was responsible for the steady gains the military has recorded against Boko Haram.

Also speaking, President Jinping told President Buhari that China which is already handling many projects in Nigeria in areas like railway, airports, agriculture, and in the Mambilla Hydro-power project, among others, will increase its investment in the country’s agricultural sector to support the achievement of domestic food security.

He also promised further Chinese investments in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, and more support for human capital development in the country
