Newly Edo Governor Elect Speaks

Following the just concluded Edo state election, newly sworn in Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, has stated that he did not vie for the
governorship in order to make money.

Speaking at a luncheon in the state government house, he said whoever wants to make money should go to the private sector.

“I am truly blessed because I come from a very large family, a family that is committed and dedicated to public service. When growing up, we were told that when you decided to work in government, it meant you wanted to serve."

"If you are in government, you must be in government to serve. If you want to make money, go to the private sector. Government is not where you make money."

Graduate Nabbed For Blackmailing Women With Their Nude Photos

A 35 year-old man, Michael Atanda, who has been threatening to expose nude pictures of four ladies on the social media if they fail to pay money into his account has been arrested by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command.

Atanda, a computer science National Diploma holder of a popular computer school based in Ikeja, was arrested on Thursday by the Decoy Team of the Rapid Response Squad after about five days of baiting and monitoring.

Atanda, an ex-convict and a father of three, had collected N121,000 from his four victims with the threat, but wanted the ladies to pay more or face the consequences of leaking their nude pictures on social media.

Disguising as Segun Bayo on Facebook and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Atanda said he went about adding several ladies on Facebook. And, that after two weeks, he would start chatting with them.

“The profile picture on my Facebook account is that of a guy based in London, and so as part of my introductions to ladies, I tell them that, I am a Construction Engineer as well as that my parents and I am living Europe…. After sometime, I would lure them into sexual conversations during which, I persuaded them to send their nude pictures to me. They would send and I would send mine to them too," the suspect said.

"Before that I would pretended that I was seeking a serious relationship with them, and that very soon, I would be coming to Abuja on a business trip, during which I would see them…. I would again feign my seriousness by calling them with the aid of computer software that transforms my Nigerian line into an international line. Meanwhile, I would warn them that I was calling through a public phone booth,” he stated.

He noted, "As soon as they have sent their nude pictures, I would come up with all manners of stories. I would begin to extort and blackmail them. Through this means, I have collected over N121, 000 from my latest victims.”

He further confessed that “I was jailed last years in a similarly circumstance after fraudulently collecting N700, 000 from a lady I met through a dating site. I was eventually bailed but the case is still pending in court…. I have collected only 10,000:00 from Funmilola, Motunrayo N6,000, Joy, N5,000 and Lizzy N100,000.”

Out of the 210 friends on his Facebook, over 195 are young ladies. Apart from Lizzy, who reported the incident but declined to press charges, three other suspects, who were discovered during investigations, acknowledged on phone calls that they have been paying the suspect so that he doesn’t leak their nude photographs online.

Even though investigators have reached out to more victims after checking the suspect’s Facebook conversations with a number of ladies. All of them have refused to come forward, after confirming they were paying the suspect through his bank statement.

Atanda also opened a bank account with the same name, Segun Bayo, in one of the old generation banks.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Dolapo Badmos, said that the Police were carrying out a thorough investigation on the case to aid prosecution. The suspect has been transferred to SCID for further investigations.

Alex Ajayi confirms issuing WAEC certificate to Buhari-issued-waec-certificates-buhari-two-presidents-ex-registrar-opens.

Alex Ajayi who is a former registrar of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has opened up that he issued certificate to Muhammadu Buhari in the 60s. The issue of President Buhari’s certificate caused a controversy in the run-up to the presidential election in 2015 and even after he was elected, petitions have been submitted in court challenging the legitimacy of Buhari whom many believe does not possess a WAEC certificate or its equivalence.  The 86-year-old Ajayi who is the first graduate from Adfo-Ekiti put to rest the controversy sorruonding the president’s certificate by revealing that apart from Buhari, he also issued certificates to the late General Sanni Abacha and General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. He said: “I joined the West African Examination Council as a pioneer staff. I was the first substantive Nigerian Assistant Registrar. I took over the control of the examination from the University of Cambridge. I took examiners to Cambridge for training across 10 years and trained them in Nigeria. I had the opportunity of issuing WAEC certificates to three former Heads of State: Buhari, Abacha and Babangida in the 60s. “When I was in WAEC, I was put on the council of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1966 by the national government of Aguiyi Ironsi. I was put on three important committees. The vice-chancellor and others were interested that I became a full staff of the university which I was not really keen about. But I finally accepted out of pressure. When I was serving on the council of the University of Ife, I was among the three-member committee selected by Chief Obafemi Awolowo as the first chancellor. I was on the council that installed him in 1967. From the early days of my life, I never applied for jobs. I was just invited. “I stayed at the University of Ife before I left for an examination correspondence college as a director and controller producing lectures for professional courses and involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Institute of Insurers and Institute of Bankers. I had the joy of launching these new lecture courses in the universities in Lagos, Ife and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.”

Yahooze Crooner - Olu Maintain Claims People Are Getting Married Of Late For Instagram Likes & Hashtag Trends

Olumide Edwards Adegbolu popularly known as Olu Maintain, speaks on the current economic situation ; as well as why couples in our generation are getting married for trivial reasons.

In a chat with HipTv, the Lagos-born singer spoke on Nigeria's current economic crisis, saying:

“Nigeria politics is a very complex equation to solve. There is so much ethnicity. It’s very challenging. You can tell that they are well-intentioned; from the very aggressive crusade against corruption trying to indict people but you know at the same time, it’s a question of the right government at the wrong time.

“Look at what is happening with the Naira against the dollar for example, a lot of what is responsible for that has nothing to do with the government but I mean when you are selling oil at a 100 USD per barrel and it increases to about three hundred and something USD, and oil constitute like 68 – 70% of what we bank on as our export in this country, I mean the Naira is going to take a hit.

“There is so much uncertainty, there is unrest with the militants that control the oil area and so on, so it’s just a situation that was already bad and it has to get a little bit worse before it can get better unfortunately.

“It’s not like this government is just sitting down and enjoying the direction this country is going. But I’m still very optimistic that there will be light at the end of the dark tunnel.”

On marriage
“A lot of people that get married these days get married for the wrong reasons. Everybody looks forward to the wedding but nobody is ready for the commitment of the marriage and marriage is a life time commitment.

“Marriage is a decision that you have to live with the consequences for the rest of your life, so 9 times out of 10, people get married for the glamour, the wedding ceremony, the grams, the likes, the harsh-tags but marriage entails a lot more than that.

“I’m not saying that’s my excuse for not wanting to get married but I know enough to know that to balance your marriage and a successful music career is like balancing the economy of Nigeria and we all know how it is going with this present dispensation now.

“It’s very challenging, so I would rather not fail at both and focus on one,” he added.

Muslim girl upsets Christian classmates by throwing Bible into drainage

A Muslim student of Altrincham Grammar School in Manchester, England has angered a lot of Christians by throwing a Bible into a drain.
The Sun UK reports that the student filmed herself on Snapchat in a ten-second video.
In the video, captioned “Good bye(ble)”, she is seen dropping the holy book through a grate. This video has been circulated on social media.
As anyone can imagine, a lot of Christian students were upset, and reported her to the school authorities, while parents have also complained about this obvious sign of religious intolerance .
The Muslim student has apologised to the school, and the authorities have let her off with a warning.
In an interview with The Sun UK, a school spokesperson said: “this was an isolated incident, we dealt with it privately and immediately. The child has apologised.”
However, this is not good enough for Christians, who feel she deserved more than just a warning.
According to a relative of another student, things would have been different if the case was the reverse.
“It is disgusting to think this young girl thinks it’s acceptable to insult a religion by defacing a Bible like this. If a Christian pupil did this to a Koran, there would be uproar.
Everyone in the school is talking about it and the parents are talking about it too. Pupils have been taking pictures of the video and been sharing it. It’s gone viral.
They found the book in school and were throwing it around and making a joke of it before it was thrown down the drain.
The girl posted another Snapchat after she was pulled up on it by the school saying ‘thanks a lot, everybody, you’ve got me in trouble’.
There’s an awkwardness at school now because she’s angry that she’s been in trouble and she’s trying to find out who told on her.
I think the school should have made a bigger response. She was let off with just a warning but I think it’s a lot more serious than that.”

I think the punishment does not fit the crime, because it looks like the Muslim girl does not see anything wrong with her provocative act.
