He made the disclosure while parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.

The Commissioner of Police listed the suspects to include members of a cult group, One Million Boys, in Mapo.

The police boss further explained that the suspects were arrested during the polls with weapons as they assaulted and injured some people, some of who are on admission in some hospitals.

Katsina said the mayhem unleashed by the suspects attracted the attention of the police Special Force, which engaged the hoodlums in a gun fight.

He said sixteen members of the gang were arrested with some arms recovered from them.

The suspects’ names were given as Patrick John, Olunloyo Ibrahim, Oluwafemi Adele, Adikpe Joseph, Olamide Abidemi, Ahmed Mukaila, Ramoni Saka, Ojo Adewale, Rasheed Afeez, Adeleke Shola, Adeleke Ibrahim, Adeleke Tunde, Adedapo Nurudeen, Dele Abu, Monsuru Olalekan and Akeem Monsuru.

The CP further hinted that the command’s pre-election efforts also led to the arrest of eight robbery suspects.

He said the suspects allegedly snatched a Toyota Camry from one Madam Oluwafolakemi Fabodede in Akure, Ondo State, adding that the robbers then moved to Oyo State to attack Joba Pharmacy and a filling station at Iroko on Oyo-Ibadan Road.

Katsina said the robbers were accosted by the Police Ambush Squad, which overpowered and arrested them after gun battle.

It was gathered that the leaders of the gang, whose names were given as Boluwaji Olawumi, John Isaac and Fagboyegun Wale, were among the escaped inmates from Ekiti jailbreak of November 30, 2014.

The apprehended escapees were said to be awaiting trial for robbery and murder in Ekiti prison.

The police boss said one AK47 rifle stolen from a police officer with other weapons were recovered from the gang, while others includes 10 dane guns, one pump action, one cut-to-size, three single barrel guns as well as live cartridges.

The confessional statement of the apprehended political thugs are yet to be made official to the public in order to ascertain who hired them and also bring their sponsors to book.

Although it is not yet disclosed who the thugs were working for, it is imperative to mention that the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate polled 528,620 votes, while Goodluck Jonathan, running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, received 303,376 votes.

Ondo Deputy Governor Defects To APC via @iam_bobokanbai

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Olanusi, an indigene of Supare in Akoko South West local government area of the State became the Deputy governor of the State in 2009 under the platform of Labour Party before he defected alongside the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko to the PDP in October, 2014.

TOP 5 Cafetaria in Uniilag via @iam_bobokanbai

1. SALADO-This café is undoubtedly the most patronized café in school (at the moment) even by lecturers and outsiders. Located at the SUB of the school, close to the Amphi Theater and the sport center. Salado has one of the best eating environments even tho some jobless people just go there to chill without buying anything and some people also complain that the food is sometimes salty.

2. MAVIS-This café is located at the Red Bricks of Science behind JaJa Hostel close to GT Bank. Always patronized by Science students, Moremi girls, Law students, Engineering students and also bankers of the banks in this area of the school. Mavis can also be conducive until the crowd gets too much and the place becomes too hot.

3. IYA MORIA-Would have been number one, if not for the poor attitude of the vendors (they act like if you don’t buy food there you can’t buy elsewhere), the food is super good tho. Iya Moria located at the DLI area of the school would have passed for number one but for the total packaging Salado has and the poor customer care of Iya Moria food vendors.

4. OLAIYA-This is without argument the café you will get the best “okele” (swallow) in school. Ranging from Amala to Fufu, Olaiya has it all. With 2 branches in school, a very good customer service, a good eating environment, a very tight total package, Olaiya is where you need to visit (if you haven’t). With locations at the FSS complex and at the complex at education bounding Amina hostel by the right, tho people complain that the oil in the stew is sometimes too much.

5. AGOYIN PALACE-When it comes to bread and beans in University of Lagos, the only right place that comes to mind is Agoyin Palace. Tho the food is usually too small, it is always sweet with the same taste every time. Located at the JAJA complex near the Unilag staff school, the only problem they have is expansion (the place is way too small and its always hot).

(Had to just put this in) *CITS (AUNTY SEUN)-When you think of eating noodles out in Unilag, Aunty Seun’s Indomie is the right choice for you. With different “eroja” (spice), a conducive eating atmosphere, quick delivery (as they have to cook the noodles after your order), always chilled drinks and good customer relation. Tho the café heats up as soon as Unilag Nepa do what they know how to do best.

NOTE: this is my own opinion; some Unilag girls may have other opinions as they patronize these café more than guys because they don’t cook. (No be me write this last part ooo!!!)

If Buhari wins, APC will jail me - Patience Jonathan via @iam_bobokanbai

While speaking today Wednesday March 25th at the PDP women presidential campaign rally in Oyo state, the first lady Patience Jonathan is quoted by Thecable.ng to have said that the APC and its presidential candidate plan to jail many people, including herself if they win the 2015 election...
“I want to tell you the people of Oyo state, you don’t need to listen to APC. APC is a spare drug; they don’t have material to quantify PDP material. You should know that they have been in government before; they were there before PDP, before Goodluck administration. If they come to Oyo, ask them, what do they have for you, not ‘I will, I will’. You were there; when you were there, what did you do for the people of Oyo state? “All what they did for you people when they were there was to send your fathers and your children to prison. That’s all what they have for you people, and I want you to remember. Some of you were still small by then when your fathers were sent to prison by this very APC people. Some of them died in the prison; you know them. You want me to call one of them that died in the prison – don’t you know Adelabu? Haven’t you heard that name before in Oyo? He was the leader of NPN then. He was imprisoned by this APC, by this very people that want to enter there and he died there. They are coming again to jail your fathers and your mothers and even me, but God would never allow them – Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost fire, Holy Ghost fire. They would never succeed, because they have nothing to offer. Their own is ‘I will, I will’; that’s all what they have to offer. “PDP has come to liberate the people. After this one, when they fail, they won’t have any name to bear again. The last time they failed, they changed their name to APC – not knowing APC is a spare drug"

Al Jazeera demands the release of their two Nigerian journalists via @iam_bobokanbai

Yesterday, the Nigerian military announced that they had restrained two Al Jazeera journalists they'd found loitering around areas where military operations were on going in Maidguri (read here). Al Jazeera has released a statement demanding the immediate release of the two men. Read below...
Al Jazeera demands the release of their two Nigerian journalists who have been detained in Maiduguri by Nigerian forces since Tuesday morning. Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris and producer Ali Mustafa were detained in their hotel room after they were returning from covering a story on the Nigerian forces fighting Boko Haram in Borno State. The story was part of Al Jazeera’s special coverage on the Nigerian elections.
After military officials questioned the men in their hotel rooms their camera equipment was confiscated. Both men have been kept in their hotel rooms and are officially detained until further notice.
According to a reported military statement, both men were questioned and restrained in their room because they were operating without “protection, accreditation or due clearance” - despite having just completed filming with the cooperation of the military. Additionally, both Ahmed and Mustafa are officially accredited by the Independent Electoral Commission in Abuja with the clearance to report from anywhere in Nigeria during the entire election period.

The military statement also said that both men were said to be ‘loitering’ in various locations, however they were actually detained in their hotel rooms. The statement gave a reminder about warnings given to “foreign” journalists, but both Idris and Mustafa are Nigerian nationals. Idris has rich experience reporting in northern Nigeria. Last year he was the first international journalist to reach Chibok and interview families affected by the mass kidnap of schoolgirls by Boko Haram.

An Al Jazeera spokesperson said: "We call on the Nigerian authorities to release Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustafa; they have all the relevant paperwork to report on the Nigerian elections and stories related to the election. Both men had just finished filming a story on the military with their cooperation. They were not ‘loitering’, but were in the hotel room and had only passed through the restricted areas of Yobe and Borno State to get to Maiduguri." "Both men are accredited and respected Nigerian journalists.

As Nigerian citizens they are allowed to travel their country freely. Al Jazeera calls on the authorities to end this matter swiftly by returning all their equipment and releasing both men without conditions." Ahmed Idris and Ali Mustafa are part of four Al Jazeera English teams reporting on the election in Africa’s most populous country and largest economy.

Chaos In Oshodi As Suspected PDP Thugs Go On Rampage via @iam_bobokanbai

oshodi-clash

There is pandemonium and chaos in Oshodi, Lagos state, as suspected thugs allegedly working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently on rampage.

Reports from the scenes of the incidents indicates that the alleged PDP thugs came to the streets early this morning, Thursday, 26th March, 2015 with dangerous weapons destroying all billboards and posters belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Anybody wearing t-shirts or caps belonging to APC are being attacked and many have been injured,” eyewitnesses told this medium.

According to reports, tension has been building in Oshodi in anticipation of Thursday, 26th March, 2015, which is the day earmarked for road shows and house-to-house campaigns by political parties.

It was learnt that in order to avoid violence, the APC held its own street rally on Wednesday, 25th March, 2015.

Thursday’s violence was allegedly carried out by Fire Two boys whose members work for PDP.

Ironically, the base of the Fire Two boys is directly adjacent to Akinpelu police station and the police did not do anything on the matter. Not a single arrest was made.

The whole of Igbehin Adun, Akinpelu, Balogun and other adjoining streets were turned into theatre of war this morning.

Latest report indicated that soldiers have taken over the streets of Oshodi to stop the violence.

Ahead of the forthcoming polls many cases of political violence have been recorded by police.

Recently violence broke out in Saminaka town, Lere local government area in Kaduna, after the destruction of politicians’ campaign billboards.

APC says PDP is Planning Trouble In 6 States via @iam_bobokanbai

PDP Planning Trouble In 6 States – APC

The Nation reports that the statement was issued by Mallam Garba Shehu, the director of media and publicity, on March 25. It said the PDP-led government was plotting to cause trouble in the states aiming to sabotage the presidential election.

The statement reads:

“Credible information available to the campaign from deep inside the Federal Government have starkly put it to us that the PDP administration has hatched a plan by which the states of Lagos, Imo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Kano and Sokoto will be racked by trouble of a serious magnitude to sabotage the presidential election and democracy in the country in a sinister, wicked and selfish objective.

”It is clearly intended to generate a crisis of serious proportions that would lead to either the postponement or the outright cancellation of the election to exclude the states from the first round of voting.

“By this plan, the INEC will be forced to cancel the elections and have these states to conduct rescheduled elections a week later.

“The whole idea, according to these credible sources, is that the government wants to buy time yet again, gain energy and pump resources into a renewed crackdown on popular will in those states. They deploy the entire muscle and resources of the Federal Government to steal the election in the six states.”

Continuing the statement, Shehu said that 100 trained saboteurs had been deployed to each of the states to carry out these cruel acts. Therefore, he advised the citizens “to do all that is lawful to resist the attempts by the outgoing Jonathan administration to bring down our democracy at the point of their exit”.

Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate, has recently made another allegation. He said that the PDP has trained thugs to whom they will distribute fake police uniforms to wear on election day to intimidate the electorate.

Meanwhile, the PDP has raised the alarm that the APC is bent on getting the PDP and its candidates in the state disqualified in the March 28 polls by the INEC.

APC Accuses FG Of Planning Election Violence
According to the Daily Trust, the Muhammudu Buhari campaign organisation said the ruling party is deliberately planning to engineer trouble in six states on Saturday in order to avert the imminent defeat at the poll.
A statement by the APC campaign spokesperson Malam Garba Shehu said “credible information available to the campaign from deep inside the federal government have starkly put it to us that the PDP administration has hatched a plan by which the States of Lagos, Imo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Kano and Sokoto will be racked by trouble of a serious magnitude in order to sabotage the presidential election and democracy in the country in a sinister, wicked and selfish objective.”
He said the crises to be formented in these states “is clearly intended generate a crisis of serious proportions that would lead to either the postponement or the outright cancellation of the election in order to exclude the states from the first round of voting.
“By this plan, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC will be forced to cancel the elections and have these states conduct rescheduled elections a week later.‎”
The opposition campaign said “the whole idea, according to these credible sources is that the government wants to buy time yet again, gain energy and pump resources into a renewed crackdown on popular will in those states. The party said the government will deploy the entire muscle and resources of the federal government to steal the election in the six states.
Shehu added that “100 trained saboteurs” had been deployed to each of the states to carry out these felonious acts.”
The APC campaign  advised Nigerians in the interest of the well-being of “our hard-won democracy and the overall interest of the nation to wake up to the reality of the threats and to do all that is lawful to resist the attempts by the outgoing Jonathan administration to bring down our democracy at the point of their exit.”
The APC claims are up for believe but it will be gather more beleivers after there was pandemonium and chaos in Oshodi, Lagos state, as suspected thugs allegedly working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ran currently on rampage and attacked APC supporters.

Boko Haram kills 75 In Borno... via @iam_bobokanbai

JUST IN: Boko Haram kills 75 In Borno

According to a woman who said she escaped from the area, no fewer than 75 men were slaughtered by the heartless terrorists group.

The escapee who spoke with Sunnews in Maiduguri, Borno capital on Thursday on condition of anonymity, said she and other women who have been held captive by the Boko Haram members managed to escape after a bomb explosion pulled down the house where she was held.

She said she escaped from Gwoza to a neighbouring community that was recently liberated by the Nigerian military in Adamawa State.

“A bomb blast occurred in a house where many women were held captive by Boko Haram and there was confusion everywhere. Two people died and many injured. The confusion provided opportunity for me and others to flee the town,” she said.

The escapee said the ordeal of thousands of other people still held hostage by Boko Haram in Gwoza town, which is about 187 kilometres from Maiduguri were deplorable.

She said several women were kept in selected houses by the terrorists who often denied them of food for days, adding that life in Gwoza town is very terrible because residents live according to the dictate of their captors who uses Islamic tenets to rule.

Gwoza, a community southeast of Borno State is still under Boko Haram control. It was seized by the terrorists group in August last year, after a fierce gun fight with security operatives. The Isamic militants hoisted its flag and declared it an Islamic Caliphate as well as the headquarters of the sect.

No fewer that 12,000 people have been displaced in Gwoza where repeated attempts by the Nigerian troops to reclaim the town in the past has proved abortive because of the  hilly environment, which provide several hiding places for the sect’s members to operate.

PDP Will Claim Back Five Lost States – Mu’azu via @iam_bobokanbai

PDP Will Claim Back Five Lost States – Mu’azu

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Tony Amadin, on Friday, March 2015, the chairman, said “the PDP is determined to claim back the states lost to carpet crossing and win all those states that have the potential for economic growth”.

According to Mu’azu, the defected governors have abandoned their direct duties concerning the governance of their states, instead they are concentrated on campaigning for the APC. As a result, it has led to the stoppage of most ongoing projects, particularly in the five states.

“Unfortunately for their new party and their desperation to become the ruling party, they have made little or no progress, thus leaving their states impoverished as they concentrate on spending their state’s meagre resources to support their party’s presidential election bid instead of providing dividends of democracy to the people.

“In Sokoto state no new project has been started or completed since Governor Maigatakarda Wammako switched to the APC. His Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Shagari who remained in the PDP has complained severally to the National Chairman that the people of Sokoto are being shortchanged because of lack of active governance in the state.

Okon Uwah   a  staunch member  of the opposition All progressive Congress  APC and candidate for Ukanafun state Constituency in the fourth coming election,  was said to be on a house to house campaign tour  of the area where he was  attacked.

Ramsey Nouah: We built Nollywood out of nothing - and now we're shooting for the stars... via @iam_bobokanbai

It's probably the most important advice Nigerian movie superstar Ramsey Nouah ever received: "My friend said," Nouah recalls,"'you look like a great actor, why don't you act?'"

That was some 25 years ago, when Nouah was looking for funds to cover his school examination fees. Nouah took his friend's suggestion and started auditioning for TV shows. He quickly landed a role in a successful soap opera, and soon after he made his debut in Nollywood, Nigeria's mighty movie making machine.

Today, Nouah is one of the industry's most popular names, having starred in dozens of films and won several accolades. His latest movie -- "Thy Will Be Done," by director Obi Emelonye -- became last month the first Nollywood film to premiere at London's BFI IMAX, Britain's biggest cinema screen.

CNN's African Voices caught up with Nouah to talk about Nigeria's film industry and present him with the questions you sent via the #AskRamsey and #CNNAfrica hashtags.

CNN: How have you seen Nollywood change and grow over the years?

Ramsey Nouah: There have been several phases in Nollywood, like in everything in life. We started off Nollywood almost like making bread out of stone; there was nothing, no investment, no structure, nothing on the ground to actually help the industry but we've brought it this far and we are very happy...

GEJ: The Beginning Of The End Of Boko Haram... via @iam_bobokanbai

Adeoye Akinsanya in his book, An introduction to Political Science in Nigeria, reports: “In 1983, when Chadian forces invaded Nigeria in the Borno State, Buhari used the forces under his command to chase them out of the country, crossing into Chadian territory in spite of an order given by then President Shagari to withdraw. This 1983 Chadian military affair led to more than 100 victims and “prisoners of war”.
Chivalrous as this act may have seemed at the time, it would turn out to be sheer tomfoolery because for a long time, Nigeria would have to deal with a lack-lustre, if not even frosty, relationship with her close regional neighbours.

When the Boko Haram insurgency, which reared its head in earnest in 2009 and fuelled inopportunely by rogue elites for the 2007 elections, took root, it was time to hem in the insurgents and deal decisively with their undesirable acts. It was a tough act. Some antagonists of government had earlier promised to foment violence after losing out in the 2007 elections. Their actions would lead to sabotage, divisiveness and outright support for the insurgency. They infiltrated the ranks of government and the armed forces and caused esprit-de-corps to dip among the rank and file. Added to this, Nigeria was not getting all the much needed support from her neighbours in arresting the miscreants. Things got so out of hand that suicide bombings, kidnappings, mass murder and land grabs were the order of the day.

It has taken the sagacity and tact by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, to reverse the plunge. Firstly, he moved to equip the armed forces through trainings and provision of cutting-edge military hardware. Then, he engaged Nigeria’s neighbours in fruitful diplomatic reengagement. In the process, the much needed esprit-de-corps among the Nigerian troops was revived and a previously taciturn neighbourhood came alive in helping to fight the insurgents. In the past few weeks, Boko Haram has been on the back foot. The once dreaded group has now been reduced to a mere gang of irritants. It won’t be long before the entire insurgency is totally decimated.

Assuming Nigeria were to continue with a stymied principle of dealing with every problem with force and farce, how successful would it have been in dealing with the Boko Haram insurgency? The skirmish of 1983 not only took Nigeria backwards in her regional diplomacy, it was not well thought out and has unwittingly cost Nigeria so much in terms of men and resources. Its progenitor actually even boasts about it without much discernment. We must not go back to such mindless strong-arm diplomacy. It is wasteful and needless. Rather, the path taken by Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief is the way to go and should be a lesson in strategy and regional engagement for years to come. That’s why it is key that all Nigerians should reelect Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on March 28, 2015....

Controversial music veteran Charly Boy is on the verge of ‘losing it’...via @iam_bobokanbai

Charly Boy Says He Needs Help

The musician, who looks like he is in need of words of relief, took to his Facebook page lamenting the unremarkable state of the Nation. He said that it might just make him crazy. He talked about the controversy surrounding his endorsement of Buhari. He said that on the preferred man for the job of president in Nigeria, he will rather sidon dey look. Here is the post below:
“Since the past two weeks my phone has been ringing off the hook. My associates and friends are shocked at what was purported as a Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement by The Brand, Charly Boy. Haba, who dash them? Looking at the campaign so far, I am so pained and ashamed of how low we have sunk. It’s no more about the issues that threaten the future of our youths and our country but the obnoxious, petty, childish mudslinging of the parties trying to outdo themselves. Kai!
In the article that I personally posted on my Facebook, I talked about a benevolent dictator, one who would come and kick some ass of all the people responsible for our pitiful situation because quite frankly, we the followers are weak with fear and guilty of inaction. Even though I’m aware of Buhari’s antecedents, I don’t believe he can pull this off. Obviously I believe that age will lead him to compromise on many fronts and that’s not what is needed at this time, aside the fact that some wolves are in bed with him. Will he become the sheep

My sister Laura wanted to go to Dubai for her birthday last week, but they told her not to bother. Looks like this Dubai restriction thing is for real. Anyone with similar experiences....
